Sun O’Clock Somewhere was born out of a desire to create something truly transformative—a society where women could embrace the joy of exploration without compromising on safety, connection, or authenticity. Inspired by the Nordic saying “Sun outside, sun inside, and sun within,” the founders envisioned a community that radiates warmth, optimism, and mutual support, just like the sun itself.

The concept grew from their own experiences as independent travelers, where the thrill of discovery was often tempered by moments of loneliness, logistical challenges, or concerns for personal safety. They recognized a gap in the travel world—between the freedom of solo travel and the camaraderie of group adventures—and sought to bridge it with a new kind of fellowship: Sunmates.

From its inception, Sun O’Clock Somewhere has been guided by a mission to empower women travelers to explore the world boldly, connect meaningfully, and share the joy of adventure.
